BASIC SERVICE

Any high performance machine needs service every so often, your Quartz battery operated watch is no different. It is recommended that every four years or more your Quartz watch has a few routine services performed. The watch case is opened, cleaned, gaskets are checked and changed if we see necessary, and the battery is changed. The serviced watch is then electronically tested. Water resistance tests are performed if the watch has a rating of 10ATM or greater.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT

Danson Jewelers will replace your watch’s battery, clean the movement and test the movement for battery consumption.

CALIBRATE/REGULATE MOVEMENT

If you notice that your watch is not keeping accurate time and it’s too fast or too slow, our Swiss Trained Authorized Watch Repair Technicians will return your watch to brand specific factory adjustments.

CLEAN/POLISH BRACELET

The watch bracelet is removed from the watch case and polished according to factory styles. Your watch bracelet will look like the day you first purchased it. Polish styles differ from brand to brand, and Danson Jewelers will make sure that your watch bracelet is done accordingly by taking all necessary steps.

CLEAN/POLISH CASE

The watch case is completely disassembled and bracelet or strap are removed. The watch movement is also removed and stored safely in order to protect it from any dust. The watch case is then placed in an ultrasonic cleaner, and given a deep cleaning to remove and dirt or dust. The case the then polished to factory finishing by our master polishers, and then placed in the ultrasonic cleaner again to remove any polishing dust. The movement is then returned to the watch case, all gaskets are replaced and the watch case is reassembled. The watch is then tested for water resistance.

COMPLETE OVERHAUL

The watch case, bracelet and mechanical movement are completely disassembled piece by piece. The watch case, bracelet, and the mechanical movement are then separately ultrasonically cleaned. If there are any worn or rusty parts in the mechanical movement they are replaced with genuine factory parts. The mechanical movement is then reassembled and lubricated, and then calibrated and placed into the case. The watch is then completely reassembled, regulated for timing, and pressure tested to insure water resistance.

CRYSTAL REPLACEMENT/REFINISHING

The glass like material that protects the dial is called a crystal. If hit with the right amount of impact a crystal is susceptible to breaking. The three common types of crystals are acrylic, mineral and sapphire; with sapphire being the hardest and most scratch resistant. Our Swiss Trained Authorized Watch Technicians will replace your watch’s crystal with an original factory crystal. If an original factory crystal cannot be found, our technicians will custom fit a crystal that meets factory standards.

DIAL REFINISHING

Danson Jewelers’ Swiss Trained Authorized Watch Technicians can refinish your vintage watch dial to original factory finishing. We can also custom finish a dial in the event that your original watch dial is worn and rusty, we will provide the best option for your watch.

HAND REFINISHING/REPLACEMENT

If your watch’s hour, minute, or second hands need to be refinished or replaced our Watch Technicians will make sure to install the exact match for your watch, including most vintage watches. If the matching hands are not available our Watch Technicians can create an exact match, or if you choose, something custom; we can also replace and restore luminosity on the watch hands.

PRESSURE TEST

Water proof is a term loosely used in the watch industry, no watch is truly water proof. Water resistance, with the assistance of the proper gasket installed, is a rating that each watch has that tells the watch owner how much water pressure a watch can withstand. Every time a watch with a rating of 10ATM or greater is opened for any reason, the gasket should be checked and the watch should receive a pressure test to insure that the continues to stay water proof up to its manufacturer’s factory specifications. This test only applied to modern quartz battery or mechanical watch movements.

QUARTZ CONVERSION

Repairing an older manual wind watch might be very expensive, and at many times the proper parts are no longer available; a quartz battery conversion might be the right move in this case. Once the quartz conversion takes place your watch will only require a basic service from time to time, and a fresh battery every year or so.

STEM/CROWN REPLACEMENT

The Stem and Crown have a few important jobs in the functions of a watch. The Stem and Crown act as the primary connections from your watch’s movement when it comes to setting the date, time, and winding your watch. They also act as additional security for water resistance, and the crown also completes the watch’s look. Ensuring that your Stem and Crown are replaced using original manufacturer parts will aid in the longevity of your timepiece.

STRAP/BRACELET REPLACEMENT

Danson Jewelers offers a wide selection of Original and Aftermarket watch straps and bracelets made from many materials; a few of these materials are Gold, Various Natural Leather, Stainless Steel, and Two-Tone Gold and Stainless Steel. A simple change in a strap or bracelet can dramatically enhance the look of a watch that has seen a lot of wrist time.

TIME TEST

Danson Jewelers will test your watch at various timing positions with our state of the art machinery that measure average rate and proper function for a period of 48-72 hours to insure that your watch’s automatic movement is accurate to its manufacturer’s factory specifications.

WARRANTY PROCESSING

Danson Jewelers will manage all Factory Warranty Repairs and Service that are done through the watch manufacturer. We will make every effort to make sure that the entire manufacturer repair and service process is as speedy as possible by staying on top on the entire process. Danson Jewelers has great relationships with many of the major watch manufacturers, and therefore having us manage all communication for your service will get you a better turnaround than you sending in your watch directly to the manufacturer. Customers must include all original warranty paperwork that you received when you purchased your watch, not having these can result in being charged standard rates for repair from the manufacturer.
